Planning to cross the Cascades this week? A colder weather system is expected to bring snow to mountain passes late Tuesday, Oct. 27, into Wednesday, Oct. 28.

In its [9:26 a.m. outlook on Monday, Oct. 26](https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?issuedby=SEW&product=AFD&site=sew&ref=justabouts.com), the National Weather Service in Seattle said forecast guidance suggested roughly 4–6 inches at the passes by Wednesday evening. Amounts will vary by location.

## Snow levels dropping midweek

The [forecast for the Cascades of Snohomish and northern King counties](https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?zoneid=WAZ302&ref=justabouts.com) puts snow levels near 3,500 feet Wednesday and 3,000 feet Thursday. The regional outlook calls for rain in the lowlands as the system moves through.
