A flute performance in Stanwood and Lushootseed storytelling in Darrington give families two nearby ways to mark Native American Heritage Month this November. Sno-Isle Libraries is also highlighting reading for children, teens and adults.

The library system's [November guide](https://www.sno-isle.org/blogs/post/celebrate-native-american-heritage-month/?ref=justabouts.com) brings those opportunities together. Here are a few places to begin.

## Music in Stanwood, stories in Darrington

[Flutist Peter Ali performs](https://sno-isle.bibliocommons.com/v2/events/6a5fc02d0ed7b4521ed6b576?ref=justabouts.com) from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Snohomish County YMCA of Stanwood-Camano, 7213 267th St. NW. The free, drop-in program is hosted by Stanwood Library.

Ali will explain the instruments' origins and their connections to his ancestry, drawing on music from several cultures. Afterward, audience members ages 10 and older can try instruments from his collection. The age guidance applies to that hands-on portion.

In Darrington, [Tulalip storyteller Lois Landgrebe's program](https://sno-isle.bibliocommons.com/v2/events/6a971730be148200298baae9?ref=justabouts.com) runs from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at Darrington Library, 1005 Cascade St. The all-ages gathering includes Lushootseed-language participation, drumming and three stories centered on thankfulness.

## Choose a book for November
