Arlington’s holiday calendar is taking shape, with a downtown kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 28, free amusement rides in December and a Santa parade on Dec. 5.

The city’s current Hometown Holidays page lists the Nov. 28 celebration from 4 to 7 p.m. along Olympic Avenue. The tree lighting is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Legion Park, followed by high school choir performances from 5:15 to 6 p.m. Shops, holiday attractions and a free 7 p.m. showing of The Grinch at Olympic Theater are also listed.

A holiday carousel and Ferris wheel are scheduled downtown beside Legion Park from Dec. 4 through Dec. 13. The city says rides will be free, with regular hours of noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Music-free sensory-friendly hours are listed for Sundays from 11 a.m. to noon, and the city says the carousel has a wheelchair ramp.

The Dec. 5 Santa parade starts at noon on Olympic Avenue, with Santa visits afterward at Legion Park until 3 p.m.

The dates also appear on page 8 of the fall Arlington Update, announced Oct. 7. Check the holiday page for updates before heading downtown.
