Darrington High School students and staff welcomed speaker Isaac Butts last month for a day that brought together an assembly, a smaller student-leadership session and professional development for employees.

In its Nov. 3 update, Darrington School District said Butts, of Wake Up Nation, spoke with students about self-belief, working through difficulties and the ways their actions can affect other people.

Students in eighth through 12th grades attended the assembly. Butts also met with student leaders in a smaller group before ending the day with a staff session, according to the district.

Butts is a Kennewick-based speaker. His program website describes an approach combining student assemblies, leadership workshops and staff development, with an emphasis on students recognizing their own worth and building relationships at school.
