If a flu shot is still on your to-do list, November is still a useful time to arrange one. Pharmacies in Marysville, Arlington, Lake Stevens and Stanwood advertise flu vaccinations, and local clinics offer another place to ask about an appointment.
For families in Snohomish and Island counties, a few questions are worth settling before leaving home: Can the provider vaccinate your child? Does it accept your insurance? Will you need an appointment?

Tulalip
Eligible patients can contact the Karen I. Fryberg Tulalip Health Clinic, 7520 Totem Beach Road, at 360-716-4511 about flu vaccination. Its medical-care information discusses flu vaccine clinics. Check appointment arrangements and the clinic's patient eligibility and registration requirements before visiting. The Marysville pharmacy options above are another place to check.
Booking for a child
The Washington State Department of Health recommends annual flu vaccination beginning at 6 months of age. A pharmacy's minimum vaccination age can be higher. Tell the booking staff your child's age and ask specifically about the flu vaccine; a general pharmacy immunization listing does not establish that it vaccinates infants.
Some children need two doses at least four weeks apart. Ask the child's provider to review previous flu vaccinations and explain whether a second appointment is needed. Bring the vaccination record if you have it.
What will it cost?
The Safeway and Haggen pages above advertise flu shots at no cost with most insurance. Confirm that the pharmacy accepts your particular plan and ask about any separate visit or administration charge.
For children: Washington provides recommended vaccines at no cost through age 18 through participating Childhood Vaccine Program providers. A provider may charge an administration fee; families who cannot afford it can ask to have it waived, according to DOH's flu guidance. Ask separately about any office-visit charge.
For adults without insurance: Washington's Adult Vaccine Program supplies some vaccines through participating providers for uninsured adults 19 and older. Use its provider map, then call about flu-vaccine availability and the practice's requirements. Participation and stock vary; the pharmacy directory above is separate from the program's participating-provider list.
The Snohomish County Health Department immunization team can also help with vaccine questions and local resources at 425-339-5234. Its public clinic at 3020 Rucker Ave., Suite 108, Everett, offers childhood vaccinations and has limited vaccines for uninsured adults. Call to check flu availability, eligibility and an appointment before traveling.
Camano Island families can also use Island County's immunization resources to find participating childhood-vaccine providers and contacts for help when uninsured.
For Medicare: Part B covers the seasonal flu vaccine, with no charge for the vaccine when the provider accepts assignment. Separate services may carry a charge.
Is November too late?
For most people, September and October are good months to get vaccinated. If those months passed without an appointment, CDC recommends continuing vaccination while flu viruses pose a risk in the community.
Antibodies develop about two weeks after vaccination. Flu vaccination is recommended each year because circulating viruses and vaccine protection change. A clinician or pharmacist can help select a product appropriate for your age, pregnancy status, medical history or previous vaccine reaction.
RSV follows a different schedule
Under Washington's current adult RSV guidance, a one-time vaccination is recommended for:
- All adults 75 and older.
- Adults 50–74 at increased risk of severe RSV illness, including people with certain chronic conditions or those living in nursing homes.
- Adults 19 and older whose weakened immune systems increase their risk of severe RSV illness.
Adult RSV vaccination is currently a single dose. If you have already received one, CDC does not recommend another dose at this time. Eligible adults who have not received it can be vaccinated year-round, with late summer or early fall preferred.
Pregnancy and infant RSV protection follow separate recommendations. Ask your maternity or pediatric provider which option fits your circumstances. Medicare Part D covers RSV vaccination; confirm your eligibility and coverage with your plan before booking.
