Granite Falls School District is preparing the first phase of athletic field improvements behind the high school tennis courts, according to its Oct. 23 Family News newsletter.

The district says the planned space would accommodate a full-size football field, a full-size soccer field and two youth soccer fields, with lighting. Initial soil assessments and surveying are complete. Superintendent Dana Geaslen described winter construction as the next step and late spring use as a possibility, rather than a confirmed opening date.

The work follows voter approval of a capital levy, the district said.

For families planning the week ahead, the newsletter lists an 80-minute early release and regular school board meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 28. A Granite Falls Middle School fall social and a Mountain Way Elementary Halloween event are listed for Friday, Oct. 30. Check the newsletter and individual school communications for event details.

The update also highlights the high school marching band’s first-place finish in Division A at the Yakima Harvest Festival of Bands on Oct. 17 and a Leadership Academy group developing a community service project.
