A homeowner was taken to a hospital with burns after trying to put out a detached-garage fire in Snohomish before firefighters arrived, according to Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue.

In an Oct. 22 statement, the agency said crews were called at about 6 p.m. Wednesday and arrived to find heavy flames coming from the garage. Firefighters used hose lines to contain the fire.

Residents were outside the garage when crews arrived. Medics assessed the injured homeowner at the scene before taking them to a hospital. The agency described the burns as non-life-threatening and reported no other injuries.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause when the agency issued its statement.
