A raised sidewalk slab can make an ordinary walk difficult for someone pushing a stroller, using a wheelchair or watching their footing. Snohomish County is asking residents to help identify those trouble spots.

For roads and sidewalks maintained by the county in unincorporated Snohomish County, report defects to contact.pwrm@snoco.org or 425-388-7500.

What to include

Give the location, nearest cross street, side of the road and a description of the problem. Include your name and preferred way to be contacted. A photo is optional, and can help crews locate the defect.

Take any photo from a safe position. You do not need to step into traffic or approach an unstable area to document a concern.

What happens after a report

The county says crews inspect applicable sidewalk defects and prioritize repairs. Temporary work may include grinding a raised edge or installing a ramp. Permanent work depends on weather, staffing and funding.

Its target of addressing potholes and other minor road defects within a week is an operational goal. The sidewalk guidance gives no fixed repair deadline.

Check who maintains the location before reporting. A sidewalk inside Marysville, Arlington or another incorporated city may need to go to that city’s public works department.
