A recipe to try, a film for the evening or a book to settle in with: Sno-Isle Libraries' current Thanksgiving guides offer a few ways to enjoy November at home. Eligible library cardholders can borrow materials at no charge, and the library also offers online baking lessons through hoopla.
Start with a cookbook or a story
The library's Books to Feast On guide brings together holiday cookbooks, plant-based options, Pacific Northwest and Indigenous food traditions, and fiction with a culinary connection. Browse the recommendations for a dish to share or something to read while dinner is in the oven.
Open a title's catalog record to check its format and current availability. For a physical book or DVD, sign in and place a hold to have it sent to your preferred Sno-Isle community library. Requesting early gives you more time to work around a waiting list.
Try a baking lesson at home
Craftsy videos are free with a Sno-Isle card through hoopla. The collection includes instruction in bread baking, cake decorating and other kitchen skills, alongside crafts and sewing.
To get started, create a hoopla account using your library card number and PIN. You will also need an email address and a password for the hoopla account. Then browse Craftsy's collection in your browser or the hoopla app.
Sno-Isle currently allows 15 hoopla borrows per month. For items marked BingePass, one borrow gives seven days of access to that collection. Check the item's access details before borrowing so the viewing window fits your plans.
Find something for movie night
The library's Thanksgiving film recommendations link to a catalog list for browsing. Check each record for its format and availability before choosing your evening's film. A streaming title and a DVD that needs to be collected call for different plans.
Need a library card?
Start registration online or visit a Sno-Isle library. Online signup provides 30 days of limited digital access. Complete registration through the link the library emails you, or with staff at a branch, for physical borrowing and full digital access.
Check the eligibility requirements before applying. If a login, PIN or catalog question gets in the way, library staff can help you find the next step.
