Arlington runners can start Thanksgiving with a 5K that supports a local food program. The Turkey Trot returns Thursday, Nov. 26, at 8 a.m., starting at Arlington Grocery Outlet, 123 E. Burke Ave.

Packet pickup begins inside the store at 7 a.m. The organizer describes an out-and-back course from the parking lot through Haller Park and Eagle Trail, continuing onto Dike Road before turning around at a water station. Runners return by the same route, over a mix of roads, trails and gravel.

Registration and children

The registration page lists a $35 entry price plus a $3.85 fee through 11:59 p.m. Oct. 31. Arlington Runners Club says the price will increase afterward. Check the live registration page for the price when you book.

Children 11 and younger can run free with a participating paid adult. The registration option specifies one free child per paid participant and does not include a shirt.

The event page says swag, music and food are planned for the first 400 paid participants. Prizes are listed for leading finishers, costumes, a stroller-pushing finisher, a young finisher and a participant chosen by the race directors.

Organizers say proceeds benefit Salt of the Earth Food Blessing.
