Arlington High School’s cross country team has received new running shoes for its athletes and a $1,000 team donation through a Brooks Future Run Team Grant.

Arlington Public Schools announced the award Oct. 20. Athletic Director Jay Silver applied in August, before the season began.

The district says some runners are already using the shoes, while others are saving them for a possible trip to the state meet. Students described the donation as useful for a sport that puts considerable mileage on their footwear.

Brooks Running’s Future Run Team Grants program supports high school cross country and track and field teams. For Arlington’s runners, this award combines equipment they can use during training and competition with cash support for the team.
