Marysville Getchell High School is celebrating national recognition for the students and staff who help make its campus a place where everyone belongs.

The school announced Nov. 6 that it had earned ESPN Honor Roll status. Former Seattle Seahawk Ray Roberts presented the recognition at a Unified assembly, according to the school announcement shared by Marysville School District.

Getchell credited its Unified Leadership, basketball and cheer students, along with staff and coaches, for their work to build an inclusive school community.

Recognition for inclusion

Special Olympics independently lists Marysville Getchell among its 2026 National Banner Unified Champion Schools. That recognition goes to schools meeting national standards for inclusion, including sports, student leadership and activities that involve the wider school community.

Unified Sports brings students with and without intellectual disabilities together as teammates. The broader school program also gives students opportunities to lead and helps make inclusion part of everyday campus life.
