Taking the bus to work or walking to an errand this month could count toward Washington's October 2026 Switch Your Trips challenge.
The campaign invites people to replace trips they would otherwise make driving alone with transit, carpooling, vanpooling, walking, biking, rolling or a walk-on ferry trip. Eligible participants who log at least 10 qualifying October trips enter a prize drawing.
The organizer's official rules say entrants must be at least 18 and live or work in Washington. Trips taken October 1 through October 31 count, and they can be logged retroactively through November 7. Logging takes place through RideshareOnline or a participating local platform linked by the campaign.
The destination matters. Under the rules, biking to the grocery store can count, while a recreational ride without a destination does not. Telework does not count toward this campaign.
Before registering, review the official rules and the information requested by the logging service. The campaign says registration and trip logging involve personal information and trip origins and destinations.
Community Transit's October 14 announcement points local riders to the challenge. See the campaign website for current prize details and participating platforms.
