Camano Island’s annual chili-and-chowder competition returns Saturday, Nov. 14, with ten tastings per ticket and a chance for visitors to vote for their favorites.

The Camano Island Chamber of Commerce’s 29th Annual Chili & Chowder Cook-Off will take place at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road. Food will be served from 3 to 6 p.m., or until it runs out.

Alongside the tastings, the chamber plans live music, a raffle, beer, cider and wine, and a fire pit with s’mores. Awards are scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the outdoor bar and fire-pit area will stay open until 7 p.m.

Tickets and parking

Advance tickets cost $25 plus the Eventbrite fee through 5 p.m. Nov. 13. Admission at the door is $30. Veterans and first responders can buy tickets at the door for $15 with valid identification.

Each ticket covers ten chili or chowder samples. Guests can vote in the chili, chowder and congeniality categories, and the chamber says $5 from each ticket will go back to the cooks.

Children are welcome. According to the organizer’s ticket listing, they may use their own ticket or share an adult’s tasting card.

Parking is available at the center, with overflow spaces at Arrowhead Ranch and Utsalady Elementary. Snow Goose Transit will provide a free shuttle between the locations. The listing also identifies accessible parking near the center.

Buy tickets or check the event’s latest details on Eventbrite.
