Stanwood-Camano elementary students can get a dental screening at school this month, with no out-of-pocket cost to families. Community Health Center of Snohomish County will begin the visits Thursday, Nov. 12.
When the dental team will visit
- Thursday, Nov. 12: Stanwood Elementary, Utsalady Elementary and Elger Bay Elementary.
- Wednesday, Nov. 18: Twin City Elementary.
- Thursday, Nov. 19: Cedarhome Elementary and Saratoga School.
Participating students will bring home a dental report card. The team can also help arrange follow-up care when a student needs treatment and does not have a regular dental provider.
These fall visits are screenings. The district says CHC will return in the spring for more screenings, sealants and fluoride varnish.
What families need to do
Participation requires signed consent before services are provided. CHC says its school program has no income or other eligibility requirements and no out-of-pocket cost, regardless of a student’s insurance status. Insurance information allows the program to bill an insurer when coverage is available; it does not create a charge to the family.
Families can find online consent forms in English and Spanish on CHC’s school-based dental program page. The district says paper forms will come home through school, and consent covers both the fall and spring visits for the school year. CHC says families receive additional consent forms if it recommends further treatment at school. For questions about your child’s visit or returning a form, contact the school nurse.
