Three dancers connected to Stanwood’s The Dance Project NW earned silver and bronze medals with U.S. tap ensembles in Prague last month.
Madison Welte, Rachel Long and Amber Welte shared the podium places with their teammates at the Oct. 20-25 gathering. Their results are described in an Oct. 26 public recap by Nichole Long, while the International Dance Organization’s official results confirm the ensemble placements.
Silver and bronze in three categories
- Madison Welte earned silver with Bugle Boy, which placed second in children’s formations. She also earned bronze alongside Rachel in production.
- Rachel Long earned bronze in The Greatest Showman. The official competition report places the U.S. entry third in all-age large productions.
- Amber Welte earned silver with Janet Babes, which finished second in the Adults 2 group category.
The official event record lists UNYP Arena in Prague as the venue. The studio’s Oct. 20 announcement named all three dancers as its Prague travelers and set out their performance schedule.
The studio and Long also thanked the people behind the trip: the coaches, dance families and supporters who encouraged the dancers, including the community cheering from Stanwood and beyond.
