Updated Nov. 1, 2026.
All four northbound lanes of Interstate 5 across Seattle’s Ship Canal Bridge have reopened ahead of schedule, WSDOT announced, ending the weekend closure before its planned Monday morning finish.
For drivers heading home to Snohomish County, that restores the main northbound route through Seattle. The express lanes have a separate transition: WSDOT says they will return to their regular operating schedule at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2.
Some I-5 work will continue overnight
WSDOT’s current Revive I-5 update says major construction for 2026 had concluded as of 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Drivers should still expect some overnight lane reductions and closures for bridge maintenance and drainage work.
The reopening completes this year’s major work. The broader Ship Canal Bridge preservation project has more construction ahead in 2027.
I-405 has a different schedule
In Bothell, the southbound I-405 closure from SR 527 to SR 522 was scheduled to last until 4 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, for demolition of part of the Canyon Park Park & Ride pedestrian bridge. Check the WSDOT travel map for the latest road conditions.
The next planned closure is in the other direction: northbound I-405 from SR 522 to SR 527, from 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9.
Bus riders should check temporary stops
Community Transit says Canyon Park Park & Ride will close during the Nov. 6–9 work, with no parking or bus service inside. Temporary stops will be on 20th Avenue Southeast between 214th and 220th streets. No parking is available at the temporary stop.
The pedestrian bridge remains closed until its replacement opens in 2028. Southbound Sound Transit routes 532 and 535 use temporary Bay B inside the park and ride while their freeway flyer stop is closed.
