Want a say in Lake Stevens' parks, planning or city government? The city is advertising volunteer openings on four boards and commissions.
Its recruitment notice, updated Oct. 19, 2026, lists these midterm vacancies:
- Planning Commission: Advises the City Council on land use, zoning and related issues. The term ends Dec. 31, 2027.
- Parks & Recreation Board: Advises on parks, recreation programs and facilities. The term ends Dec. 31, 2028.
- Civil Service Commission: Handles civil service rules for police and certain other department positions. The term ends Dec. 31, 2031.
- Salary Commission: Sets city officials' salaries. The term ends Dec. 31, 2026.
Recruitment remains open until positions are filled, according to the notice. Its heading still says three opportunities, while the body lists four; check current availability with the deputy clerk.
