A coffee or bakery purchase could help support local children, teens and neighbors seeking practical assistance this holiday season.
The Community Resource Center of Stanwood-Camano is inviting local coffee stands and bakeries to join its Do Good Business campaign, running Nov. 10 through Dec. 31. The center announced the invitation in a Nov. 4 Facebook post.
Businesses can choose an arrangement that suits them, such as donating a set amount for each selected item sold or a percentage of featured sales. They can also choose a participating period within the campaign rather than commit to the whole stretch.
The appeal supports the center’s Early Learning programs, Teen Programs and Little Green House resource hub. Participating businesses will receive a decal and recognition on the center’s social media, according to the announcement.
What the campaign supports
The center’s Early Learning programs give children ages 0–5 and their adult caregivers no-cost opportunities to play, learn and prepare for kindergarten. Offerings include playgroups and support for parents and caregivers.
Its Teen Programs provide a place to gather after school, with activities that include student-led community service, music and art, and hands-on building projects.
At the Little Green House, staff help residents navigate resources and applications. Limited financial assistance may help with housing, utilities and other basic needs. That assistance requires an appointment and depends on available funds.
How to take part
Business owners interested in joining are asked to message the Community Resource Center through its Facebook page. The center’s official contact page also lists info@crc-sc.org and 360-629-5257.
Owners can discuss which product or sales period they would like to feature and how their contribution would work. Customers can watch for the center’s participant announcements before deciding where to make a campaign purchase; the initial invitation does not establish a confirmed list of participating shops.
