A front-yard growing project is sending more than 2,000 pounds of winter squash to the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank, according to Puget Sound Public Farms.

In an Oct. 25 update, the organization said it partnered with John Fischer to turn his front yard into a squash patch this year. It reported the harvest was headed to the food bank, which shared the announcement on its own page.

The organization is also inviting people with a yard, unused land or an idea for growing food locally to get in touch about future projects. To ask about participating, email andrewd.pspf@gmail.com, the contact listed in its post.
