Stanwood High School’s football team is celebrating a Wesco 3A North championship after opening its season with seven straight wins.

The team announced the division title ahead of its Oct. 23 game at Mount Vernon, reporting a 7–0 record at that point. The Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation also shared the celebration.

That unbeaten start included a 31–7 Senior Night victory over Ferndale. According to the school’s report on that game, Stanwood held Ferndale to 135 yards of offense, while quarterback Alex Maldonado threw for 253 yards and four touchdowns.

The evening also honored seniors from the football team, cheer squad and band.
